Our director Graham Bartlett retired from Sussex Police in 2013 as a Chief Superintendent. He was the divisional commander for the city of Brighton and Hove, chair of the Sussex Superintendents’ Association, a strategic firearms and public order commander and a Senior Investigating Officer and the Detective Superintendent for Public Protection. He pioneered a number of ground-breaking multi agency policing initiatives including developing a cross sector community safety function and the hugely successful Operation Reduction which has seen year on year success in reducing drug related crime and overdose deaths in Brighton and Hove.

Graham is currently the statutory Independent Chair of Brighton and Hove Local Safeguarding Children and Adults Boards and East Sussex Safeguarding Adults Board. These positions make him responsible for co-ordinating and assuring children’s and adults' safeguarding services in the city and adults' safeguarding in East Sussex.

In Death Comes Knocking Graham Bartlett and Peter James take the reader on a vivid journey from crime scenes and incident rooms to the morgue. Along the way we are introduced to some of the real-life detectives who inspired Peter James' characters. We read about the horrific murder of a dodgy nightclub owner and his family and see how the police tracked down the antique trade's most notorious 'knocker boys', nailed an audacious ring of forgers and hunted a cold-blooded killer who executed a surfer.

Skilfully evoking the dangers of policing a city once described as Britain's crime capital, the authors also share the personal toll the job takes and the dedication and professionalism of those who risk their lives to keep the public safe.
